What you say may indeed be true, a Jack Merridew may be an atronaut, but taken against the background of everything else, it does strain the senses a little.
1. Why would anyone else have your I.D ?
2. Why would they have it for so long ?
3. Why could you not produce it before ?
4. Jack Merridew is a character from Lord of The Flies.
5. He does not appear to have a profile anywhere apart from arsing from you. He appears in no census reports.
